Maybe it's worth then requesting that Control Link have a 2nd tier, or pass through feature. I only saw it as some controller but was hoping it has assignable knobs. This, I sort of was alluding to earlier, because I was unfamiliar with thesys. Cant use direct inputs as inserts, unlike instruments. So the control link with all I love about it does not pass midi data thru. Unfortunately it's not possible to use Direct Inputs with Inserts (unlike Instruments), so an armed MIDI track has to be used as a bridge. How to do it ?MIDI output data from a VST (Instrument) does not pass the Control Link system so it's not possible to alter a channel fader in the Console with it directly.Ī possible workaround could be modulating a volume level parameter of a MIDI capable VST that is residing on the audio channel, from an instrument track that uses Thesys as input and the MIDI capable VST as output. Niles wrote anatolyjbugaichuk wroteSimple example: we have some plugin which generate midi CC 52 signal (Sugarbytes Thesys for example), and need assign (link) this signal to mixer volume fader in studio one. ![]() Just like as the master volume ramp test, view the whole automation out a little further. This would reveal automation is being recorded, and not just hopping up and down in real time. I would like to see the line is actually shown as steps (going up and down). In your video, the track automation line was hopping up and down, but zoom out. Make sure you are actually recording automation. But the problem we then need to address, is making a Fader react in the channel mixer. When you do, does the Control Link window now show that parameter? If so, the condition can become an automation lane in Studio One. Now lets break down what works, and what does not.Īdditional: try with the Control Link, selecting "anything" in Thesys. Then you can see if the CC52 problem is unique, or the Thesys, does not read/write at all. Draw, or record a fade, so the automation shows the fade, or level change. Then, create the VCA, and with the hand icon, drag it to the automation. Remember ro use the Control Link process, as you will see immediately if the control link is properly assigned. Try not selecting cc52, instead try a basic parameter, like master volume of the Thesys, or a patch change. As a test, try something basic, and not hopping back and forth, as it may be reading some other data. I suspect you can select CC52, but the channel fader does not read it. Even the track slider on the new VCA moves, but not the channel fader, as you say. I can't view your video from where I'm at, until I get to my computer. I could be wrong, but I don't think you're going to get the same varied CC data shown in S1 via it's automation. Since Thesis is already doing the MIDI CC manipulating, maybe just perform further editing with the event and note information from S1. Though that may not slave properly to S1. Perhaps the other way would be to select the same instruments parameter with the Control link, as Thesis is manipulating the CC from. That way, you would get the slaved automation that Thesis is generating. Not the particular CC it is manipulating off of from some other devices MIDI parameter, but some portion of Thesis itself. I got a peek at Sugarbytes Thesys from another video as well, and I looks to be an interesting software MIDI controller, you'll want to select some knob or parameter off of it. If the Control link changes for any object you click, but not that particular one you want (usually a rare case), then it's probably not an item that will not link, though There may be some other crafty method we haven't covered yet. ![]() If you've gotten that far, you have linked the feature. In your case it will be that new VCA, but try it anywhere first as a test. Once selected, drag that hand down to any track that you wish to automate with that feature. Observe the Control link which should have now changed to that feature. Literally, by clicking on it (usually its knob, fader, switch, or button). First select the feature with your mouse cursor. The easiest way to see that ability to link a feature is view the control link (upper top left, near the hand). You can check the linking of your CC controller this way.
